Now sow the two pieces together.
Handle Side
To join line up the teapot handle side and whip stitch a few stitches with the 12 inch end you left when you started your project, and then try it on the teapot to see where the bottom reaches the handle. If you’ve done it enough make a few half hitch knots to finish and cut off yarn.
Next then put the two top sides together to gauge where to sow from end edges to top of spout handle. Should be lying nice and snug in the groove of top of handle. Start by making a knot and whip stitching from edges to where you want to finish. Make a few half hitch knots and so back down to the beginning of where you started to join and hide the knots. Trim the end of yarn. Handle side finished. Repeat this for spout side.
Draw String Cord
Use two different colors of the same yarn you used to make the cozy colors of your choice. Ch so it is long enough so it fits around the top of your cozy and add another 6 to 8 inches so it has a dangly bit at the ends. It all depends on what brand your yarn you are using to what the length it will be, so to gauge it, put the cozy on the teapot and gather the cord on the outside and with one hand and close the top, while grabbing both ends with your other hand drawing them up the cords and you will be able to see if your drawstring cord is long enough. It if is FO.
You can either sow your FO ends in or cut level and leave long ends. Take your cozy off the teapot. Remembering which edge is the top, start to weave the cord through starting a little bit below the top edge. Use a larger crochet hook to pull the cord through.
Weave between the start and finish of each row two colors. In and out missing a color, keeping at the same distance from the top all the way around until it meets the other end of the cord where you first started. Knot both ends loosely if you like. Now it is ready to go.
